A graduate of the JKA Instructors' Training Institute, he is qualified as an official instructor, examiner, and tournament judge. He is the author of Complete Shotokan Karate, Secrets of Shotokan Karate, Japan's Complete Fighting System: Shin Kage Ryu, and Karate Basics.
